| Materials | Students will need music, a music notation pad and a weekly assignment notebook book. There are blank assignment and weekly log pdf files files found on this site. Students will need a keyboard to practice on. A piano is always best for piano technique, but in some cases a weighted keyboard will suffice. |
| Preparation | When an individual takes music lessons, it is reasonable that said student demonstrates a desire to improve. Learning music should be a joyful experience. Thus the student should study and practice with enthusiasm! Students are given weekly assignments that normally require daily some effort to accomplish. Each weeks assignments should be completed if the student expects to move forward in their studies. |
| Lesson Time | Thirty minute or one hour time periods are standard lesson lengths. Lesson time is dependent on need and is usually prearranged. Young children that are beginning piano studies typically take a 30 minute lesson. Two 30 minute lessons per week can have advantages for children. Adults generally schedule one hour lessons. Occasionally students will arrange for more than one hour to address special needs. All students in Denton and those requiring my travel are required to book a minimum of one hour. My schedule varies, but I generally teach on weekdays. Regular lesson times are preferable but lessons can be also scheduled on a tentative case-by-case basis. Contact me and we can chat about the possibilities. With the exception of webcam sessions, lessons are generally taught at my studio or at your house. There will be an additional charge for my time and gas to drive to your house. That additional charge varies depending on where you live in relationship to my studio and what time of day you desire a lesson. |
